The annual Royal Carcass Competition and Auction is the most prestigious event on the South African red meat calendar.
This event is made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Red Meat Producers’ Organisation (RPO), the South African Pork Producers’ Organisation (SAPPO), the KZN Pork Producers’ Organisation (KZNPPO), and the Royal Agricultural Society.
The Royal Carcass Auction follows the awards ceremony for the Royal Carcass Competition. This auction is a unique occasion for buyers, butchers and restaurants to compete for lamb, beef and pork that has been judged to be the best in the country.
It is also an opportunity for winning bidders to capitalise on the exposure and publicity this brings their establishments.

2023 WINNERS
Gerrie Lotter (right), from Hofmeyr in the Eastern Cape, swept aside the competition with his White Dorpers, winning the Champion Lamb Carcass, First Reserve to the Champion, Second Reserve to the Champion, and the Champion Group. Lotter's Champion Lamb sold to Halaal Fresh Meats in Thornville for R2 200/kg.
