2025 Royal Agricultural Show

In early December 2024, the Royal Agricultural Society’s CEO Terry Strachan announced that the Royal Agricultural Show planned for 2025 would continue to contain the Youth, Feather and Fur shows, but that cattle, sheep and goats would not have a presence.

Assuring all that this was a necessary temporary change while the RAS completed its move from its previous home of 122 years, he explained that “owing to factors beyond its control, the Society was precluded by local government regulations from hosting a commercial and industrial component; a constraint — which whilst frustrating —  that is likely to not endure indefinitely”.

He said that the Committee tasked to consider the planning of the proposed 2025 Royal Agricultural Show was upbeat about the longer-term, but that “the meeting opined that to host ‘half’ a show in 2025, to the exclusion of implements, plant and equipment, would diminish the event’s proud tradition of all-encompassing excellence”.

For this reason, the cattle, sheep and goats, as well as the associated Gold Cup Parade and prestigious Carcass Auction, could not be a part of the 2025 Royal Agricultural Show.

It was also noted that while this may be a disappointment for the agricultural community, the RAS plans to use the time leading up to its following show in 2026 — the Society’s 175th anniversary — to strengthen ties with the agricultural community.

Strachan stated that “you can anticipate our presence at a number of events, where you are urged to chat to Royal Agricultural Show representatives”.

Workshops are envisioned for engaging with breed societies and industry bodies, and surveys will be sent out inviting you to record your experiences and preferences.

This will all help inform future Royal Agricultural Shows to best serve farmers, breeders, industry, and the public.
